Ways to Help SVCM

Donate to SVCM's Ministry

Your gifts directly impact the lives of those in need in the Swannanoa Valley. Only through the generosity of this amazing community is our work made possible. Thank you for thinking of your Neighbors in Christ.

For more than 45 years people have giving generously to Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry, impacting thousands of lives in the process. We are so grateful for our community of individuals, churches, and businesses who make supporting their neighbors a financial priority. As a donation and volunteer based ministry, we are completely reliant and indebted to those who make our work possible. Thank you for letting us be the hands of Christ in the Swannanoa Valley.

Other Ways to Give

Donate Items Needed to SVCM

  • Linens (towels, sheets, etc.)

  • Small household goods (sets of plates, silverware, etc.)

  • Laundry pods

  • Personal care items (toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, travel size bathroom products)

  • Shelf stable food items (please check to make sure they are in date and unopened)

Call the ministry at 828-669-9404 and let a volunteer or staff member know you are coming by to drop items off. Please drop off items during our open hours (9 am-3 pm M-F) so clothing or food is not left out overnight to get dirty or eaten by critters! To drop off, go to 101 N. Ridgeway Ave in Black Mountain and go to the right of the building where there is a drop off door. Volunteers will be happy to provide you with a tax receipt. Thank you so much for your donations, they make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!

If you're interested in making a gift of stock, securities, real estate, or through a charitable trust, please contact SVCM Executive Director Cheryl Wilson at 828-669-9404 or by emailing svcmdirector@gmail.com.

Undesignated gifts

Undesignated gifts for general use are our top priority, so we can put them to work where we need them most. General gifts allow SVCM to respond flexibly to needs that occur at any time. This could mean helping a mother afford childcare when she has a job interview, a young man afford a crucial car repair, or gas money for an elder to get to their medical appointments.

Direct Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is also available for those with demonstrated financial need for things like:

  • Rental Assistance

  • Heating and Utilities

  • Transportation/ Bus Tickets

  • Emergency Shelter

  • Medical Assistance

  • Scholarships

Memorial and Honor Giving

We are grateful to those who choose to honor a loved one through a gift in memoriam or honorarium. If you are mailing a check, please include a note with the name and address of your designee. If you give online, there is a section in which you can write this information.

Legacy and Endowment Giving

Donations to endowment are gifts that keep on giving. Through the careful investments of our endowment funds, we are able to grow an emergency reserve of funds and access small returns every year for special projects.

Volunteer

You can support the vital work of SVCM by volunteering, donating food and clothing and by taking part in one of our events.
